Savage 110: A Budget Rifle So Good It Might Annoy Your Wallet

The Savage 110 Tactical is the rifle I’m talking about here, not another version of the 110. In my original review, I liked the combination of accuracy, features and room to change the setup later. For me, that’s where its appeal was.

My rifle was chambered in 6.5 Creedmoor. I tried six factory loads at 100 yards and reported sub-MOA performance. The action felt smooth, and I had no failures to feed or eject in that test. I did note that pressure on the magazine from a support could cause trouble, so I wouldn’t ignore how the rifle was being supported.

I liked the adjustable AccuTrigger and the included 20 MOA rail. The trigger felt crisp, without creep that bothered me. Scope mounting still needs to follow the equipment maker’s instructions; I’m not treating a generic threadlocker tip as a substitute for those specifications.

I also liked the room to change the rifle later, with aftermarket stocks, chassis and barrel options. That doesn’t mean it needs replacing immediately; it means there is room to build on a rifle I already liked.
